    Give What You Have

    September 7, 2017

What do you have that others need?  Some of us have certain skills, like being a handyman, or being good with cars, or being good at helping people move (only because you have a truck).  Others of us have certain possessions that other people need and that you are willing to give them in their time of need.  So, I ask again, what do you have that others need?

The sad reality of many Christians today, is that we have forgotten or we have never been taught that we have something that everyone needs.  We have been blessed by the God of this universe with the universal remedy to sin.  And this universal remedy lives within us and has been given to us so that we can give it to others.

This universal remedy to sin that I am referring to is the Spirit of God.  When you humbled yourself and placed your faith in Jesus, the Holy Spirit came rushing upon you.  He transformed, sealed, and brought forgiveness of sins to you in that moment.  This Spirit now lives in you, which is why Paul calls Christians the temple of God in 1 Corinthians 3:16.  We are the temple of God because we are the dwelling place of God here on on earth or in other words, God is present within us.

But heres the deal, the Spirit of God does not dwell within us to remain silent and inactive.  We are called to give what we have been given.  God gave us the Spirit so that we could be his representatives here on earth and share the Spirit of God with those around us.

If you are like the majority of Christians, the idea of sharing the Spirit seems difficult and unimportant.  If this is you, I beg you to change.  What you have to give is more important than gold and silver (Acts 3:6).  You have the remedy to sin and death.  And this remedy lives within you.

Christians, please give what you have.  You have the Spirit of God and your sins have been forgiven.  And where there is much forgiveness, there should be much love.  Grace and Peace.
