Welcome to Grace

We are followers of Jesus Christ who are striving to love others because God has loved us.  By His grace we have been given the opportunity to share the gospel in the Port Clinton, Catawba Island, and Marblehead areas.  If you have any questions or if you are just wondering who we are and what we do, please do not hesitate to visit or call.  We hope to see and worship God with you soon!

    The Fourth Soil

    September 22, 2016

The rapper Ice Cube famously coined the phrase “You better check yourself, before you wreck yourself.”  What Ice Cube probably didn't know was that this phrase can either be concerned with our worldly self or our spiritual self.  In our spiritual journey, we Christians should learn the discipline of checking ourselves on a daily basis before our lives are wrecked with worldly, sinful desires.  This is a discipline that Jesus himself teaches all through his earthly ministry.  Throughout the Gospels Jesus compassionately looks at the crowd and graciously calls them to repent and believe.  He also looks out at the crowd and wants them to listen carefully to his words, and then he wants them to intrinsically reflect to see if they are receptive or resistant to the truth he is teaching.  The only hurdle with Jesus’ teaching is that he usually teaches in parables.  Parables are simple stories to illustrate spiritual truths, a teaching tactic Jesus uses 35% of the time.  Parables cause individuals to think, to reflect, and to check themselves to make sure they are receptive to the truth.

    An Eternal Verdict

    September 15, 2016

Is there a sin that God won’t forgive?  Is there a sin that we can commit in our lives that will render us under God’s wrath for eternity?  According to Mark 3:28-30, the answer is yes.

“Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”— for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

    Ministry is People

    September 8, 2016
Sometimes people are hard to deal with.  They can be annoying, intrusive, unreliable, and just downright mean.  They can be dirty, rude, and very unpleasant to deal with.  Wouldn't it be nice if we didn't have to deal with people as much as we do?  For some reason, it feels like this is exactly what our culture is trying to accomplish.  With the ever growing world of technology, we can now do most things in our life without coming into contact with another human being.  We can check out at the grocery store alone, we can pump our gas alone, we can eat alone, we can shop alone, and we can even go to church alone.  As tempting as it is to follow the flow of culture and dive head first into a world without people, Christians must remember that ministry is people

    Everything Changes with Jesus

    September 1, 2016

Here is a challenge for you.  Take the time and read the Gospels straight through.  By Gospels, I am talking about the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.  If you take this challenge, I guarantee your view of Jesus will change.  Many people have distorted views of Jesus in their minds because they have never taken the time to read about who He is and what He did while He was here on earth.  Many of us have time to read blogposts about Jesus, listen to sermons about Jesus, and develop our own thoughts on Jesus.  In the end, we become so busy doing those things that we lack the time to actually read about Jesus from the one source that matters, the Bible.  So instead of reading, hearing, and thinking about Jesus from second hand sources, wouldn't it bode well if we read about Jesus straight from The Source?  If you take the challenge of reading the Gospels, I promise that you will end up finding Jesus “absolutely irresistible!”
